Milk contents
Milk is rich in protein. It contains casein which helps weight loss by keeping you full for a long time. Casein also aids muscle repairs. Milk also contains whey which is a fast digesting protein. Protein shakes also include whey but milk is clearly more advantageous.
Milk contains almost 87 percent of water. You lose a lot of water while exercising. Milk hydrates the body and prevents fatigue.
You also receive calcium from milk. Calcium improves bone health and also aids fat loss. Bone health is extremely important for women.
Except for these, milk contains many more nutrients like vitamins, riboflavin, magnesium, biotin, etc.
A new trend of consuming chocolate milkshake after the gym or heavy workout is now seen all across. The beverage is said to contain all the nutrients needed to replenish the energy after a workout; also replenishes the proteins and calcium lost on the treadmill. Clint Wattenberg, the coordinator of sports nutrition at Cornell, said: “after numerous experiments, it was observed that low-fat chocolate milk can be used as a recovery beverage”. Regular gymmers also consume almond milk after the workout.
CrossFit trainer and nutritionist, Erica Giovinazzo’s after gym diet consist of a scoop of vanilla protein with almond milk and frozen blueberries, pureed pumpkin with a half teaspoon of cinnamon. Co-founder of Throwback Fitness, Brian Gallagher consumes chocolate milk after a hard workout.
